Hi, I'm Michelle and this is my journey.

First of all, I am not a rower. By day, I am a Remedial Massage Therapist. By night (and by that I mean any other minute I have to spare!) I am training to row 5000kms across the Atlantic, solo.

This is an International event, professionally organised and fully supported. Crews can enter as a solo, pair or four. The race has strict rules and regulations and insist that mandatory courses are completed, for your safety. Your boat must be built to specifications and be fully equipped with the latest safety and navigational equipment.

The journey starts in La Gomera, Canary Islands and finishes up in English Harbour, Antigua. It is set in December - outside of the hurricane season, and will have predominately following winds, seas and currents. There will be 40 foot+ seas, 35 knot winds, sharks, capsizing, equipment failures, salt sores, blisters, mental fatigue, physical exhaustion.

It all happens in December 2018, and this is my journey. If you would like to be involved, find out more here

The Race

Crossing the Atlantic is never an easy undertaking. I'll be taking on the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge 2017 - one of the world’s toughest nautical challenges, and the ultimate test in mental and physical strength and endurance.  It is a 2900 nautical mile (5371km) ocean row will start from La Gomera, Canary Islands, in December 2018, and will finish 60-90 days later in English Harbour, Antigua.

I will be one of the solo rowers that make up about 30 crews - comprising of solo's, pairs or fours. It is an Internationally race, professionally organised and fully supported. The race has strict rules and regulations with mandatory courses to give you the best chance for completing this mammoth challenge safely.

The Ocean Rowing boats are specifically designed with self righting and self draining abilities. My boat has been built from scratch and is of full carbon fibre. It has all of the latest safety and navigational equipment on board and able to sustain me for the duration of the row.
